Édouard Wajnryb was born in Paris in 1939 and lived with his parents and older brother, Serge. He was separated from his mother following the Vel d'Hiv roundup in 1942 and placed in an orphanage. A few weeks before the liberation of Paris, Édouard was taken from the orphanage. On July 31, 1944, he was deported to Auschwitz death camp on a convoy of 327 children. Édouard and the other children were murdered as soon as they arrived at Auschwitz.
