Glass Bottles
These glass bottles came from the Haberfeld vodka distillery. The distillery was founded in 1804 by Jewish businessman Jakob Haberfeld in the Polish town of Oświęcim (Auschwitz). By the 1930s, the distillery was run by Jakob’s grandson Alfons and his wife, Felicia. The Haberfelds were on a business trip to New York when the Nazis invaded Poland. Consequently, the couple were unable to return home to their baby daughter, Franciszka. In 1944, they learned that their child and her grandmother had perished in Bełżec death camp.
