These inquiry-based student activities advance the development of historical thinking skills and the core competencies of the British Columbia curriculum:

  • Communication - learning activities provide opportunities for students to collaborate and communicate. Through presentations and group discussions, student share their observations, interpretations and conclusions about themes of Holocaust study.
  • Thinking - learning activities prompt students to think critically and reflectively about major themes in Holocaust history as they analyse primary sources from diverse perspectives (e.g. victims, perpetrators, witnesses, descendants, historians etc.) to form reasoned inferences and conclusions.
  • Personal and Social - learning activities connect students to personal stories of individuals impacted by the Holocaust and invite them to consider the implication of this history upon people and communities.
