Rebecca's Identity Card
This identity card belonged to Rebecca Teitelbaum, a Jewish woman living in Belgium during the war. Belgium was occupied by the Nazis in 1940. All Jewish residents were ordered to register with the Belgian authorities. They were given identity cards stamped with the words “Jood-Juif.” This showed that they were Jewish. The Nuremberg Laws of 1935 were used to define who was Jewish.
