On the eve of her deportation to Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp, Magdalena wrote this postcard to her husband, Imre. At the time, Imre was imprisoned at Jolsva forced-labour camp. Upon her arrival at Auschwitz, Magdalena was told that she should leave her two-year-old son in the care of an older woman. Magdalena was then selected for forced labour. She never saw her son again—he was sent directly to the gas chambers.
