NS Propaganda Poster
This propaganda poster was produced by Nazi officials who governed the Netherlands during the war. Translated, the text reads, "Socialism destroys jobs! National Socialism!" This poster depicts two men. One is a labourer, and the other is a businessman. The men are shaking hands in a show of cooperation and harmony between the classes. It was an attempt to convince Dutch citizens that Nazism would bring national unity.
The term "Nazi" is the German abbreviation of Nationalsozialismus ("national socialism"). The full name of the Nazi party was Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei.
National socialism is a far-right fascist ideology. In contrast, "socialism" is an economic and political ideology of the far-left. The Nazis considered socialism to be a threat to the German Reich and its citizens. Socialists were among the first “enemies” of Nazism imprisoned in concentration camps in 1933.
