[Text: Leo describes antisemitic propaganda in the Netherlands following Nazi occupation in May 1940.]
Leo Krell: Now, Holland was not a country that was very big or very populated. At that time, we had about 9 million people. And those people were mainly working to make a living, they were not political people at all. And in order to make a living, you haven’t got the time to go after Jews or after politics or after everything. They were mainly interested in making a living, but the propaganda was there, and somewhere it came in. And it’s not hard to find an antisemite. It just is a very easy thing, because they have to have an outlet. And the Jews at that time were already the outlet.
