Cross of Honour

The Cross of Honour of the German Mother was a civilian order of merit. From 1939 until 1944, it was awarded to women of “pure German blood” who had conceived and raised four or more children. The award was used as a propaganda tool to promote Nazi beliefs of racial purity. It also encouraged the idea of large German families to grow the nation’s population.
