At the age of 13, Louise Stein Sorensen assumed the false name Loes van Boven. She was hidden with Cornelis and Maria Olff and their five sons. This was the first of many hiding places and false identities for Louise. She found it difficult to adjust to life in hiding with an unfamiliar family. She was taunted by the couple’s sons and hated being confined indoors. Over the next few years, Louise was moved from home to home with the help of the Dutch resistance. In 2018, Yad Vashem recognized Cornelis and Maria Olff as Righteous Among the Nations. The family had risked their lives to hide Jewish children during the Holocaust.
