Marianne obtained this identity card from the Dutch Underground resistance. To conceal her Jewish identity, the J was omitted from this professionally forged card. In addition, her surname was changed from “Stein” to “van Strien.” Marianne, her husband and two daughters survived the Holocaust in hiding. Their extended family perished in the death camps.
