In 1941, Leon Kahn witnessed the mass murder of hundreds of Jewish women and children from his town, Eišiškės. Leon’s family members were among the victims. 
 
In 1944, Leon joined a partisan resistance group. They fought against the Nazis and local collaborators. Leon became an expert in blowing up Nazi German supply trains and sabotaging communications.
