A worn paper tag with a tangled string connected to the side. The tag reads “Holland-America Line Cabin Class. Passengers should claim their baggage from the baggage master on the pier before going on board the steamer.”
Reverse side of the luggage tag with instructions.

This Holland America Line luggage tag belonged to Dr. Hermann Rosenthal. Hermann and his family were among the mere 5,000 Jewish refugees permitted to immigrate to Canada between 1933 and 1947.
