Ring, Comb and Mirror
Sarah worked twelve hours a day as a forced labourer for the German ammunition manufacturer HASAG. Prisoners at the camp made efforts to maintain the appearance of physical health so that they might avoid deportation. One of Sarah’s fellow inmates risked his own life to steal scraps of metal. From the pieces, he made these gifts for Sarah with his initials JN engraved on the bezel of the ring.
