Resistance Armband
Jacques Backmann lived in Belgium. He avoided deportation to the camps by concealing his Jewish identity. He was a member of the Belgian resistance during the Nazi occupation. This allowed him to send packages to his sister, Rebecca Teitelbaum, who was imprisoned in Ravensbrück concentration camp. He also sent packages to his brother-in-law, Herman, who was in Buchenwald concentration camp. Jacques wore this armband after 1944 as proof that he was a member of the resistance.
