In 1941, Abrasha Kaplan, his wife and two daughters were forced into the Vilna ghetto. In 1942, he joined the Fareynikte Partizaner Organizatsye (FPO) or the United Partisans Organization. The FPO was a Jewish resistance group that organized armed resistance against the Nazis. Abrasha served as a liaison between the FPO and the ghetto chief, Jacob Gens.
In 1943, the ghetto was liquidated. Abrasha escaped to the Kazian forest. His wife and daughters did not survive. He emigrated with his second wife, Ida, and their daughter Sherie. In Canada, they had another daughter, Odie, and resided in Vancouver.
