Ted Alpin was a squad leader in the Canadian Royal Air Force. After liberation, he was stationed near the former Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. Many of the camp prisoners remained interned at Bergen-Belsen long after liberation. Ted became interested in the welfare of the camp victims. During the summer of 1945, he organized Sunday picnics for the children.
